Our big monthly freestyles now mostly on FRIDAYS are held at The Rover Club, Roman Way, Horspath Rd, Cowley, Oxford, which boasts the county's largest and most impressive EMPEROR Ballroom, with huge smooth wooden floor, and spacious comfy socialising area. Plus we benefit from drinks @ Club prices!
The UK's leading jive DJ: Jon Brett, is our resident DJ.
The EMPRESS ballroom where we hold occasional events, is like its little sister - similar great floor, but more intimate!

Thank Friday it's Freestyle ! @ The Oxford Academy, (Beecroft Theatre), Sandy Lane West, Littlemore, Oxford OX4 6JZ is aimed @ the more experienced, expressive dancer wanting to experiment and push the boundaries of their dancing. Specially invited leading teachers/dancers are there for you to dance with and sometimes for bookable private lessons. Resident DJ Morris Revdrop plus support invited DJs, play mixed tempo alternative tracks, but mostly cool, smooth music to interpret and have fun with!
No thump-thump here!

Sat 19 May - 2.30 - 5.30 pm with 30 mins @ end for questions and practice
Inspiring teaching = inspired dancing!
Be inspired by Lazy Dave! One of the best teachers in the UK today, and the leading exponent of this up-to-the-minute form of Modern Jive.
Aimed @ dancers with @ least 6 months regular MJ experience
Three sections, with breaks in between* Learn and develop simple, good technique with the essential connection between partners to make the dance flow
* Lazy Dave will then move on to more complex,fun patterns demonstrating the progressive nature of the dance.
* Simple technique develops into eye-catching moves with a lush, smooth feel.
* Learn how to glide across the floor like Fred & Ginger
Questions are welcomed throughout the afternoon, offering a more personal learning experience, helping on a one-2-one level wherever possible.
You will be surprised how just a little Lazy Dave magic can help your dancing explode into glorious 3D!
